Becoming a crime scene investigator is a very prestigious job. Many aspire to witness a crime scene investigation because they all think it’s a very cool job. But before you become an expert on forensic science, you need to have proper education which is dedicated to this field of study. And to have an idea on where you should enroll yourself and be assured of landing a very stable forensic science career, the list below shows the leading forensic science schools.

The following institutions will teach you what DNA testing is all about and how it is being conducted. Anything that you need to know about forensic science will be taught to you in the following schools, namely:

University of Mississippi

University of Central Florida

Loyola University, New Orleans

Michigan State University

Arkansas State

Baylor University, Texas

Oregon State University

University of Central Oklahoma

Ohio University

Colombia College, Missouri

With the choices given above about the leading forensic schools, it doesn’t necessarily follow that the other schools are no good. There are schools that offer this field of study although in the most generalized curriculum. For those schools that offer preparatory study on forensic science, you can still avail of that and enroll at a school that specializes in this field later. That is to widen your knowledge.

Although there are those who hire employees based on where he had studied, there also those who doesn’t really care as long as you know your job and you are qualified to do what you are required to do. Be it a school that is within your financial means or one of the expensive leading schools in the country.

Getting an online pharmacy degree can put you in the ninth best job, according to Money and Salary Magazine. An expected 25% growth and demand for pharmacists is expected in the next 10 years. There are several distance learning, or online, pharmacy education programs available that you can take advantage of, regardless of your geographical location, or previous obligations.

A PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) degree is a 4-year professional degree. Prior to acceptance into a PharmD school, you are usually required to complete two years of pre-pharmacy classes. There are also transition programs that allow a pharmacist with an older BS in pharmacy to advance to a PharmD level.

The American Council on Pharmaceutical Education does the accreditation of colleges and universities that offer online pharmacy degree education programs. Make sure that the school you select carries this seal of approval.

The job market for a pharmacist is wide open. You can work in a clinical setting, pharmacy management, pharmaceutical sales, in a hospital or retail pharmacy, mail-in pharmacy or participate in research.

With a potential annual salary of $88,000, a career in pharmacy is definitely an area you should explore if you like science. You will need to complete your degree and internship, and then pass the state exam (NAPLEX) in order to obtain your license to practice as a pharmacist.

Family obligations or work related obligations do not need to prevent you from entering into this robust job market. Online college degree programs allow you to complete your course work at your own schedule in your own home. Internships can be arranged in your geographical location. There is no need to move across the country to obtain your degree.

An online college degree education website will provide you with the information you need to decide what school to attend. You can apply to the schools of your choice right at the online website. You can even find out about financial aid, and talk to a counselor if you need to.

Pharmacy assistants play an important role in health care, and you can qualify to take on this role with good training in pharmacy technology. There are a number of good schools for pharmacy technicians throughout the US and Canada, where you can become certified and learn to assist pharmacists with dispensing prescription medications and keeping pharmaceutical operations running smoothly.

Although the pharmacy technician is not the same as a pharmacist, many of the duties are shared, with assistants taking on the bulk of the everyday, routine tasks. Pharmacy technician schools can teach you to perform general administrative duties, as well as to prepare prescription medications under the watchful eye of pharmacists. You will learn to screen calls from medical offices and from patients; assist patients in submitting prescriptions to be filled; recommend medicines and other health care products; submit forms to HMOs, insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid; fill and label prescriptions; and enter patient information into a pharmacy database.

The health of patients depends on accurate dispensing of prescribed medicines, and it is up to the pharmacy assistant to verify the accuracy of filled prescriptions. Training will include instruction in ordering bulk medicines; preparing chemotherapeutic agents; compounding oral solutions, ointments, and creams; and prepackaging various medicines, nutrition solutions and intravenous mixtures; and much more. Your training will include many subjects relating to pharmacology, such as biological sciences, health sciences, natural sciences, medical and pharmaceutical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology, and mathematics.

Pharmacy technicians are required to have a minimum of an associate degree, with a focus directly related to the duties of the pharmacy assistant. You can get a degree in the field from various schools, colleges, vocational schools, and even online schools. Upon graduation, you will be eligible to take the P.T. Certification Board National Exam to become a certified pharmacy technician.

The number of online high schools is increasing at a steady rate as more and more schools offer quality, accredited programs online. With the presence of public, private and online high schools, individuals are faced with a greater choice when it comes to their education.

You know about regular private and public schools. They’re located in your neighborhood and city. You know what they’re all about and the types of programs and services they offer. What about online high school? It’s a relatively new concept.

Online high school enables students to get an accredited high school education from their homes. It is just like its classroom counterpart – there are assignments, quizzes and final exams. You simply access the class material through the use of your computer 24/7, 365 days a year. It provides you with an easy way to take summer school classes online, make up credits or get a jumpstart on the upcoming school year.

Benefits of Online High School

Choose where to learn – You can take high school classes from your home or office.
Set your own pace – You can work as fast or slow as you need. You are in the driver’s seat.
Study when you want – You can choose when you want to study and arrange your classes around work, sports and other responsibilities.
Avoid social pressure – You can work in an environment without the social issues that are present in a regular school.
Access class materials anytime – You can learn any time during the day or night.

There is typically an education support department to guide you with any questions or concerns you have along the way. They can be reached via e-mail, phone or fax.

Most importantly, it’s easy to get started. You don’t have to wait until September to begin. Simply log onto the website of an online high school and follow the steps to start. You will soon be on your way.

Getting into a good US Medical School can be an overwhelming process but now you can fill out your medical school applications online. This means that from one central website, you can fill out medical school applications for several of the schools at one time. You do not have to sit and fill out form after form anymore. Many students are relieved to have a place to go and fill out the paperwork in one place.

Once you have completed your undergraduate studies and completed your medical school admissions test, it is time to submit your applications. Hopefully you kept a high class rank, studied the sciences and did well on your medical school admissions test. The American Medical College Application Service is located on the Internet. From this website you can fill out your applications for one or even several schools of your choice. The majority of the US medical schools accept applications through this service. Your information is stored and you do not have the arduous task of filling out applications over and over.

The American Medical College Applications Service is not the only place on the Internet to fill out your medical school applications. You can also go the websites for each of the medical schools and find their application forms on the Internet. Typically there is a filing fee or processing fee for the forms but this can be paid online as well. One option to save time is to store all of your information in a word processing file on your computer. This way you can just simply copy and paste your repeated information such as demographics, personal information and so forth into the forms. You will find that the majority of the forms ask for the same information.

Part of the medical school applications require that you write a personal essay. Put some thought and time into this essay. Write it in a word processing program that will check for basic grammar and spelling errors. Prior to submitting the essay have a friend, co-worker or relative read the essay and offer suggestions. You can also hire someone to proof-read the essay and fine tune it for grammar and punctuation. It is important that the essay submitted is tight and demonstrates your command for the English language as well as show your uniqueness and qualifications. Once you are satisfied with your essay, save it on the computer and make a back-up copy as well. You do not want to have to start from scratch if something happens to your computer. You can then copy and paste the same essay for each of the medical school applications that you submit.

Take advantage of filing your medical school applications online. This will save you a great deal of time and make the entire process less overwhelming. Additionally, go ahead and type out information that is asked for repeatedly so that you can simply copy and paste into the forms. Have someone review your essay and help you make it the very best that you can. Following these tips will make the entire process much easier for you.

How do you choose an online high school? Some would tell you that this is:

a. very simple; or b. very hard; or c. both I think it is possible to apply a simple formula to the selection process. Following this formula will greatly improve the possibility of choosing the right online high school for you. This formula amounts to a ten point plan for success.

Point 1: Is the school accredited or recognized by a governmental agency? At one point, I used to say that the only acceptable choices for online high schools were those that were regionally accredited. I have now expanded my thinking on the topic (but only for high schools; colleges do not get this option). Some states do have a reasonable authorization process. Likewise, some school districts are offering real programs. It may be that neither is currently accredited. They are still reputable. Where you need to be careful is places like Florida that has its share of online high schools, but the approval process is non-existent. It amounts to a license to do business. By the way, there are almost as many fake accreditors as fake online high schools. Real accreditors are CITA and those accreditors listed at CHEA.org and the Department of Education website.

Point 2: Does the school have a reasonable length of operation? This point is difficult to measure. What is reasonable? You do have some leeway here. There are some “schools” that have been around a long time that are fake. If it is a newer school, what is the experience of those running the school. Reputable schools will either have this on the website or will be happy to tell you.

Point 3: Is it listed at a reputable source? With some humility, is it listed in the book below and/or the website below? While I will leave it to others to decide if those resources are valid, they have both had many readers.

Point 4: Is the school reasonably priced? Here’s an oddity for you: Reasonably priced schools are either free or are in the couple thousands of dollars (more or less). Not reasonable are programs that are $295 (with a discount for cash) or something similar. Clearly, there is no doubt this is a fake school. A number of states now have programs which are free. That is a reasonable price. Likewise, there are the commercial programs like Laurel Springs School, Penn Foster High School, or Keystone National High School that are also reasonably priced.

Point 5: Does the instructional methodology match your preferred method? Some online programs are still very much tailored to an independent study format. Other online programs are very much tailored to a more traditional classroom setting. Both are acceptable and it is a matter of personal preference. You will want to know which a particular school does before paying any money! Analyze yourself and decide which is best for you.

Point 6: Does the instructional scheduling match your preferred method? Aligned with Point 5, some schools schedule course times and others have you work on your own. Both are acceptable and it is a matter of personal preference.

Point 7: Does it have a believable website? You absolutely cannot get a real diploma in seven days. Or seventeen days. Or one month. No, you absolutely cannot get a high school diploma for $300. Any site that is making amazing claims is not a good source of information on online high schools.

Point 8: Does it have a professionally-made website? Professionally-made sites look nice; they have a professional appearance. They list staff members. They offer complete contact information. Take a look at the website for Laurel Springs Academy for the Gifted & Talented as an example.

Point 9: Does the curriculum appear to be similar to what you would experience in a traditional school? Absolutely, there should be some room for innovation. Having said that, you really do need to have some courses that look like World History or Algebra (and that probably use those names). Remember that part of the deal is that you want to use this diploma for other purposes like college or employment. Confusing those folks is not a good idea.

Point 10: Are you able to contact the school in multiple ways? A real school will have telephone access. A real school will have a fax number. They will not be the same number. A real school will have an email address and a website.

Should a reputable school hit all ten of these points? Yes. These are minimum standards. Schools should feel free to exceed these points, but potential students should be wary when schools do not live up to them.

Over the last couple of years, Long Island schools have been placing fewer students in Special Education classes. Instead, some students at Long Island schools with special needs have been receiving tutoring to help them keep up with their school work.

Mainstreaming Students in Long Island Schools

On the face of it, mainstreaming special needs students attending Long Island schools into a regular classroom as much as possible makes sense. If the special-needs student can attend classes with his or her peers, there is a cost savings for the board of education. No matter what we want for our children attending Long Island schools, there are only so many dollars available for education.

For too long, children who were “different” were kept away from the mainstream. Students in the regular education stream didn’t have a lot of opportunities to get to know them or interact with them. Special Education students were the object of suspicion and/or ridicule, simply because other students didn’t understand them; all they knew was that these other children were different. Being different was not something to be celebrated at that point.

Any measure that helps students attending Long Island schools learn to be tolerant of others can only be for the good. Humans tend to be suspicious of things (and people) they don’t understand. With time, mainstreaming can help to reinforce the idea that there is no “Us” and “Them” at Long Island schools. All students are in the environment to learn together and to learn from each other.

Long Island Schools Need to Ensure Students Don’t Fall Through the Cracks

It would be most unfortunate if, in the interest of saving a few dollars, students who need to be in a different learning environment to do their best work were denied access to Special Education programs. We shouldn’t be too quick to either segregate students from their peers or to push them into the mainstream learning environment in Long Island schools.

Instead, we need to take the time and allocate the appropriate resources so that a thorough investigation is conducted when a student is having trouble learning at Long Island schools. Only with a proper diagnosis of a difficulty, can a plan be implemented in Long Island schools to address that student’s needs.

Our children are our most valuable resource. When they don’t get the support they need to become effective learners, we are setting them up to fail in life. It would be far better for teachers and administrators at Long Island schools to find out what the students’ needs are and find the resources to meet them, whether in the regular classroom or an alternate one.

Traditional culinary schools have evolved considerably since the 1950’s and 60’s. At that time, gourmet cooking was still based primarily on centuries of tradition firmly rooted in the European cooking tradition. Although there were culinary schools in the United States at that time, they were few and far between because many still felt that the world’s great chefs hailed primarily from Europe and France in particular. Times have changed considerably and the world of gourmet cooking has benefited greatly from the shift.

If you still remember Julia Child’s television series that introduced good cooking to the general public, you may also remember the cooking style she demonstrated which was traditional, satisfying and heavy foods. There were rich sauces and traditional French cuisine that was wonderful, however there was little variety in terms of regional dishes. French, Italian and Spanish dishes were often demonstrated, but Asian and American ethnic cuisines weren’t taught.

It isn’t surprising, like most chefs at that time, Julia Child was traditionally trained in the French tradition. The relatively small number of culinary schools in the United States at mid-century were all based on a traditional French pattern. Over the years, however, the demand for creative dishes and ethnic cuisines grew and culinary institutes began to respond. The finest schools continue to cover the basic and advanced techniques of European cooking, but now also give students in-depth understanding of regional cooking techniques, seasonings and styles.

In the last three decades, ethnic and regional food specialties have gained huge popularity. Where these foods were once found primarily in ethnic neighborhoods, they have now gone mainstream and been elevated to fine cuisine due to their increased popularity and the interest of great chefs around the globe. Culinary schools now teach students everything from unusual cooking methods to sausage making and everything in between.

In an increasingly small world where so many people travel to different cultures and try new foods, it isn’t surprising that the interest in regional and world cuisine has taken off. When travelers return home, they hope to find the delicious foods they’ve learned to love at home as well, and chefs are responding to this trend.

Today’s culinary schools cover a wide variety of food traditions, including French, Spanish, Italian, Asian, Polynesian, Creole and Cajun, as well as many sub-categories of each of these international cuisines. “Fusion” foods are also increasingly popular. Fusion is the combination of two distinct types of cuisine in order to create unique new dishes. Fusion restaurants are now some of the most popular in the country because of their skillful blending of many international traditions that produce flavorful new dishes to tempt diners.

If you enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and trying new ways to prepare traditional foods, culinary school may be the perfect career choice for you. Be sure to ask each school you are considering what kinds of cuisines will be taught. The best culinary schools have evolved and continue to do so in order to tempt the public’s increasingly discriminating and worldly palate.

Last year alone, more than one million children in the United States choose homeschooling over traditional education. This stunting figure was released according to the National Center for Education Statistics.

Homeschooling is a recent development in education. Not that long ago, it was considered too radical by many education experts. Nowadays, it is legalized in every state and more than 1 million children has undergone homeschooling and I suspect many more parents are seriously considering homeschooling.

The interesting thing was what prompted such a change? There have been many recent surveys to suggest that parents are getting impatient and fed up with our public schooling system. It is seen as being superficial with no real-life skills being applied and taught.

Parents are also concerned about the negative publicity often portrayed in news. Examples are school students taking drugs in schools, abusing fellow students physically and even students bringing guns and knifes to school. Parents are concerned about the negative peer influence these students cause to their child.

Homeschooling offers an opportunity to end all that and allows parents to bring up their children in a natural and loving environment. I believe homeschooling is especially important in the early years of a child’s development (between three to twelve years old) as this is the period where they are prone to negative influences and peer pressure and cannot differentiate what is right and what is wrong. Homeschooling helps to protect them from such negative influences.

Another benefit of homeschooling is an inevitable bond between the child and the parents. The parents and the child spends more time together forming an unique bond. The bond gets stronger as time passes and later you will find that you can connect with your child better than you never thought before.

Parents can also have better control over the kind of moral and religious beliefs a child should have. Parents can impart their moral values and beliefs to their child easily since they spend more time together.

So what’s stopping parents from adopting homeschooling? For one thing, homeschooling requires a lot of time and money. For most families, both parents needs to be working full-time to support the family. Most homeschooling families I know of is dependent in one parent for the income. The other parent has to devote full-time in homeschooling the child. Therefore in some cases, it is not possible to adopt homeschooling unless you are financially stable.

The other interesting phenomena is that more and more homeschooling support groups are cropping up in your neighbourhood. They help to guide and support each other. Some homeschooling support groups have even gone online. If you do decide to go homeschooling, find a homeschooling support group in your area.
